Cancellation policy

1. Cancellations by the client

To confirm a booking, a deposit of €100 is paid and deducted from the total rental price. If you need to cancel your booking, the following conditions apply depending on how far in advance you notify us:

• With at least 4 days' notice: full refund of the deposit.
• With less than 4 days' notice or in case of no-show: the deposit is not refunded.

Cancellations must be notified in writing to hola@8mares.es, stating the booking number. Circumstances attributable to the client will not be accepted as grounds for cancellation, except in duly accredited cases of force majeure.

2. Cancellations due to weather

If sea conditions do not allow safe sailing, we will be the ones to cancel the service. In that case you can choose between changing the date at no cost or receiving a full refund of the deposit. The decision to cancel due to weather always rests with 8 Mares, based on the safety of the crew and the boat.

3. Security deposit

On boarding day, a security deposit of €500 is blocked on your credit card. It is not a charge: the amount is released once the service has ended and the boat has been checked. The release may take up to 72 hours depending on your bank. Damage or loss of equipment attributable to misuse of the boat will be deducted from the deposit after a documented assessment.

4. Rules of use of the boats

• The user undertakes to operate the boat in compliance with current maritime regulations and is responsible for any damage or infringement arising from their actions.
• The boat is handed over with a full tank and must be returned in the same condition; fuel is not included in the price.
• Pick-up from 10:00 and return by 18:00. Late returns may incur an additional charge.
• Maximum capacity of 8 people (7 if a skipper is hired). Exceeding the capacity is not allowed.
• Use is limited to the areas authorised by the licence presented; any change of itinerary must be approved by the base.
• The boats are intended exclusively for recreational, private use: commercial or competitive use and subletting are strictly prohibited.
• Any damage, incident or irregularity during navigation must be reported to 8 Mares immediately.

5. Right of admission

8 Mares reserves the right to refuse boarding, without refunding the deposit, where there is an evident safety risk: if the designated skipper does not hold the required sailing qualification, if anyone on board is not in an appropriate physical or mental condition for safe sailing, or in the event of aggressive behaviour or refusal to follow the safety briefing instructions.

Payment of the booking implies full acceptance of these conditions, as well as of the contract and inventory signed at the time of boarding.
